Hey there, i have a cookie which echos ok but would like to know how to automatically select the corresponding option from a drop down list when the page loads. Normal List <form id="switchform"> <select name="switchcontrol" size="1" class="topusernav" onChange="chooseStyle(this.options[this.selectedIndex].value, 60)"> <option value="none">-----</option> <option value="noir">Noir</option> <option value="crimson">Crimson</option> <option value="forrest">Forrest</option> <option value="ocean">Ocean</option> <option value="petal">Petal</option> </select> </form> works fine but <form id="switchform"> <select name="switchcontrol" size="1" class="topusernav" onChange="chooseStyle(this.options[this.selectedIndex].value, 60)"> <option value="none" <?php if (!(strcmp("none", "$_COOKIE[\"mysheet\"];")) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>>-----</option> <option value="noir" <?php if (!(strcmp("noir", "$_COOKIE[\"mysheet\"];")) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>>Noir</option> <option value="crimson" <?php if (!(strcmp("crimson", "$_COOKIE[\"mysheet\"];")) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>>Crimson</option> <option value="forrest" <?php if (!(strcmp("forrest", "$_COOKIE[\"mysheet\"];")) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>>Forrest</option> <option value="ocean" <?php if (!(strcmp("ocean", "$_COOKIE[\"mysheet\"];")) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>>Ocean</option> <option value="petal" <?php if (!(strcmp("petal", "$_COOKIE[\"mysheet\"];")) {echo "selected=\"selected\"";} ?>>Petal</option> </select> </form> gives me a whitespace error any thoughts?? thanks Hi, I want to end a session when a registered user is asked to login again but enters the incorrect credentials. I'm destroying the session and taking the user back to the login page, but for some reason when s/he clicks "back" on the browser s/he is able to get back into her/his account. Any ideas? I am trying to pass a variable as a cookie from one page to another, but can't seem to get it working. The first page has a form with a submit button. The forms action goes to a second page called updated.php. In the updated.php page I have the following code (with the cookie right at the top before anything else): <?php setcookie("get_orderID", $get_orderID, time()+5); ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> etc... Later in this page I have the code to send the original form data to an sql database and then retireve an auto increment value back from the database as follows: <?php if($edit_orderID == 0) { $submit_order_sql = "insert into my_orders (date, name, clientID) values ( \"$date\", \"$name\", \"$clientID\" )"; $submit_order_rs = mysql_query( $submit_order_sql, $conn ); $get_order_sql="select orderID from my_orders where job_no = $job_no"; $get_order_rs = mysql_query( $get_order_sql,$conn ); $get_order_row = mysql_fetch_array( $get_order_rs ); $get_orderID = $get_order_row["orderID"]; ?> Finally I need to send the variable I have found back to the form page (using a cookie). But it seems that as the variable is being created at the bottom of the page, the cookie at the top is not seeing the variable. Can anyone help please?? Thanks. how can i set cookie like a*dm*n@**t*r*c**.*c** ?? Code: [Select] $cookkiee = $islem_1['mail'] ; $sayisi = strlen($cookkiee)-1 ; $cok = $islem_1['mail'] ; for($i=0;$i<=$sayisi;$i++) { $sifr = rand(0,2); if($sifr ==0) { $cok[$i]= '*'; } $dizik = $cok[$i]; setrawcookie("kayip",$dizik,time()+(60*30),"/"); $_COOKIE['kayip'] = $dizik; echo $dizi // etc . a*dm*n@**t*r*c**.*c** } echo $_COOKIE['kayip']; // etc. just one char being like random a hi everybody ; its working Forgot Password i am posting a form.php to anohter page.php and if turn true i am sending mail and creating a cookie after header(Location: form.php) so cookie code in page.php Code: [Select] ob_start() sessioon_start $_COOKIE['mailsent'] = $mailii; setcookie("mailsent",$mailii,time()+(60*30)); i want show it Quote if(isset($_Cookie['mail'])) { echo "sent mail to $_Cookie['mailsent']" } but i am taking this Notice Quote Notice: Undefined index: kayip in J:\EasyPHP-5.3.2i\twww\site\form.php on line 133 when i lookup to site Cookies i am allready seem "mailsent" and value = $dynamic_mail so where am i doing wrong ?? Hi all, I'm struggling with a program I'm trying to write with cookies, so any help would be very much appreciated!! What I'm wanting to do is when someone visits my site, I want to display content until the end of the day, and once the days up it disappears forever/until the cookies are deleted. Could someone help me with this? Thanks lots in advance, Jake Hello again everyone, I am new to PHP. This is the second part of a question: Question: In the program you created in question 4, allow your user the option of saving the information for the next time they visit. If they choose "yes", save information in a cookie. At the bottom of question5.php I added a checkbox to save the information. I then created an if statement on the processing page (question5display.php. I would appreciate some help, thanks guys. Here is the form ( called it question5.php): <html> <head> <title> Please Enter Your Text</title> </head> <body> <form method="post" action="question5display.php"> <p>Enter the text you want formatted please: <input type="text" name="textformat" maxlength="30" size="30" /> <table> <tr> <td><label for="font">Select Font:</label></td> <td><select id="font" name="font"> <option value="Verdana">Verdana</option> <option value="Arial">Arial</option> <option value="Times New Roman">Times New Roman</option> </select> </td> </tr> <tr> <td><label for ="size">Select Size:</label></td> <td><select id="size" name="size"> <option value="10px">10px</option> <option value="12px">12px</option> <option value="14px">14px</option> <option value="20px">20px</option> </select> </td> </tr> <tr> <td><label for="color">Select Color:</label></td> <td><select id="color" name="color"> <option value="green">Green</option> <option value="blue">Blue</option> <option value="red">Red</option> </select> </td> </tr> </table> <input type="checkbox" id="save_prefs" name="save_prefs" /> <label for="save_prefs">Save these preferences for the next time you log in.</label> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit" /> </form> </body> </html> Here is the page it goes to (called it question5display): <?php if (isset($_POST['save_prefs'])) { setcookie('font', $_POST['font'], time() + 60); setcookie('size', $_POST['size'], time() + 60); setcookie('color', $_POST['color'], time() + 60); $_COOKIE['font'] = $_SESSION['font']; $_COOKIE['size'] = $_SESSION['size']; $_COOKIE['color'] = $_SESSION['color']; } session_start(); $_SESSION['textformat'] = $_POST['textformat']; $_SESSION['font'] = $_POST['font']; $_SESSION['size'] = $_POST['size']; $_SESSION['color'] = $_POST['color']; ?> <html> <head> </head> <body> <p <?php echo ' style="font-family: ' . $_SESSION['font'] . One is just an "Ok" and the other is a cookie (like 1%2C%2C%2C2087364217%2C2087310473%....... etc) I can login ok and set extract the cookie... I then use the soapclient __setCookie to set the cookie for all further calls to the Webservice. However when I make the next call I am getting an error saying that the call is unauthorised as if I have not logged in or the cookie has not been passed.... Please help!! Im at a loose end and I dont know what else I can do... Here is the code Code: [Select] <?php // Caching ini_set("soap.wsdl_cache_enabled", "0"); // WSDL locatie $url = "some.wsdl"; // Nieuwe SoapClient klasse $soap = new SoapClient($url, array('trace' => true)); // Try loggin into the webservice and retrieving a token - this part works fine!! for($i = 0; $i < 3; $i++){ try{ $result = $soap->opLogin(array('name' => 'Usename', 'cleartext' => 'password')); // token is in the result $token = $result->info; // Trim the result to get only the cookie $token = trim(str_replace("PubAuth1=", "", $token)); // Print token echo "token - cookie:"; print($token); echo "<br>"; // Set cookie $soap->__setCookie('PubAuth1', $token); // Now make a call to the webservice to set a new user.... THIS PART DOES NOT WORK!!! for($i = 0; $i < 3; $i++){ try{ $result2 = $soap->__soapCall("opSetUser", array('email' => 'david@bustedmedia.com', 'p' =>'password123')); //$result2 = $soap->opSetUser(array('email' => 'david@bustedmedia.com', 'p' => 'lalala')); // Print result echo "opSetUser result: "; var_dump($result2); exit; } catch(Exception $ex){ echo "opSetUser error: " . $ex->getMessage() . I have a problem with my login script, because when i login it sets a cookie and it all works. But when i got redirected and refresh the page, my script turns an error which says i'm not logged in? how come? This is what finds the cookie and redirects me Code: [Select] if(!isset($_SESSION['auth']) && !isset($_COOKIE['authcookie'])) { $_SESSION['ERROR'] = 7; header('location: index.php?login'); } Ok guys heres the deal. I have been struggling on this for about two weeks and am giving up. Because I'm giving up, I would like to throw this up to you guys to help me out. I am trying to build a login I tried learning sessions but they make no sense to me whatsoever on how the information passes from one to another. So i created my own sessions database, where im uploading the data i need to pass page to page to my db, and repulling it on the next page. In order to do this i needed to create a cookie so I can refrence that data on the next page, main.php. When I run main.php i get an the echo of. "THIS COOKIE AINT FUCKING WORKING". which to me means one of two things. One is either im not creating the cookie right, or two, im not accessing it correctly. But to widdle that down I created the testpoint on if cookie is created and it seems to work fine, cuase im not getting the die(). Im not an advance php programmer by any means, just been self learning for a few months, so bear with me and please break it down as much as possible. I feel that if i can just get a userid created on one page, put it into a cookie, send it, and retreive it when on the next page, i can do the rest from there. If you can see why that is happening then let me know. Thanks in advance. I now need some code so that when the user goes to a download page, it checks for the cookie and if there is no cookie it redirects to another page. But if there is the cookie it displays the download page. I tried i few things but didn't work. Can anyone help me please!! Thanks George I'm trying use curl to login into a page that sets cookies using javascript, but curl doesn't register the cookies. Is there another way of getting the javascript cookies? Hello all, I hope someone can shed some light/point me in the right direction. I have a site that allows you to search for a customer then view and change their detail. page 1 has a search box for name entry. page 2 displays all the matches retrieved from a db table that match. The user selects which customer is the correct 1 and sets a cookie containing the selected customers unique id. page 3 allows changing of the customers details. now the problem I have: If a user navigates to page 3 and has a customers details on page for viewing all is well. If they open a new tab (leaving page 3 open on first tab) and go to page 1, search for another customer, page 2 select another customer (which overwrites cookie) then to page 3. They now have two tabs open on page 3 both displaying different customer details. If they return to the first tab and change some detail, when they save it actually updates the users details that corrispond to the second tab. I know this is because the cookie has been changed that holds the unique id that is required for the update query. How can I prevent this? I've looked at sessions but it would seem the same issue would excist. Am I wrong? Many Thanks I hope I made sense. Hey all, http://www.adamrowden.co.uk/photo-searchr.asp If you visit this link, you'll see on the left side you have a few photos. If you click a photo from that page and then go back to the link i've provided you'll see that it shows you your 'recently viewed photos'. I'm wanting to do exactly that and need some pointers on how i would!? I'd be very grateful for any help Thanks, Jimmy m I want to know How to send cookies to another site Hey there, I currently have a banning system on my site that doesn't allow users to login with the banned account. But the cookies are set to remember them for a year. How can I destroy their cookie, so that they don't stay logged in and continue to use the site? I have a web application in which there are two php files index.php and include.php . include.php is loaded to a DIV tag inside index.php on click of button using Jquery . Both these php files share a common varible through cookie which is used to keep track of the data retrived by include.php . This variable will be updated each time include.php retrives data . These php code work fine Mozilla and chrome but not in IE . When i checked the cookie value it is same through out without setting . Please help . Thanks in advance , Rahul Hello, I am having trouble setting a cookie with a future expiration. I am using PHP Version 5.1.6. Here is my code: $expire = time() + 60*60*24*30; // 30 days setcookie("TestCookie",$value, $expire); The cookie gets set, however, the cookie is not persistent and expires when I close my browser. This should not be the case but should expire in 30 days. The time() is correct on the server. Here is the raw http headers: Status: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Sat, 26 Mar 2011 15:12:27 GMT Server: Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) X-Powered-By: PHP/5.1.6 Set-Cookie: TestCookie=my+cookie+value; expires=Mon, 25-Apr-2011 15:12:27 GMT Content-Length: 126 Connection: close Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 However, when I open Firefox or Chrome they both say that the cookie will expire when I close the browser. I know that my browser is accepting cookies properly because I see other cookies from other websites in the cookie list that expire with future dates. I've tried setting a cookie in the future with javascript and it works fine, like the following: $jsExpire = date("D, j M Y H:i:s e", $expire); echo " <script> <!--// document.cookie = 'jscookie=testcookie; expires=$jsExpire; path=/' //--></script> "; However, when still trying to set the cookie (before headers are sent which is how php operates), php fails to set the cookie properly. Is there any kind of setting in php ini that could effect cookie expiration dates? Obviously it's not a browser problem since I can set cookies correctly with javascript but not php. I even tried sending cookie with header() like this and it doesn't set in the futu header("Set-Cookie: TestCookie=my+cookie+value; expires=Mon, 25-Apr-2011 17:26:45 GMT; path=/; domain=.mydomain.com"); Any help appreciated. Hi all, I wonder if any of you have this problem before.. I have a login page with "checked box remember me" - It is working fine in my localhost machine I can see the COOKIE in my browser's option setting (Firefox). But now the problem is: When I run the script in my test server; and do exactly the same thing..the COOKIE did not seem know. When I logged in as an admin and checked the box. And closed all the browser. Then, open the browser (Firefox)and go to the index page (landing page) then it redirect me to the login page instead. I looked the at COOKIE setting in my Firefox and I can it is stored there. Any ideas whats wrong? Greetings, I threw together a log in script that uses regenerate_session_id to help prevent session hijacking. The script has 2 basic parts: authentication and session validation Session Validation is a script that is set-a-top of other php scripts using a require_once call. It validates the token and session, and it will regenerate a session id if need be. What I've noticed when loading a page, is when a user has been validated (session id and token id) AND a new session id has been generated, if the client aborts while PHP is processing the rest of script, the session becomes invalid and the user must re log in. I believe what is happening is the server-side has been updated with the newly generated session but the client hasn't gotten the updated cookie thus creating a mismatch at time of next session and token validation. Does this make any sense? Possible Fix: If session id regeneration is required, conditionally register a shutdown function that will initiate the regeneration of session id. This will ensure the initial PHP processing has completed, and a less intensive block of code can regenerate the id. This closes the client-abortion while processing window substantially I'm looking for some advice on possible solutions and problems. Thanks! :] I have quite a big problem when a user visits a website using Firefox. When a user logs in and checks the "remember me" checkbox a cookie is stored using this code: Code: [Select] [setcookie('LooktureAuth', $cookie, time() + 2678400, '/');/code] This works absolutely perfect in Safari, but when I try to access this cookie in Firefox (using $_COOKIE['LooktureAuth'];), the cookie is not showed. When the user go's to an other page though, the cookie is showed. Does anyone have an idea why this is happening? Thanks on forehand! Hey guys, I have developed an script which opens or fetches a page using curl, now the problem is the url i am trying to fetch follows lot of redirects(say 302) and in between it stores several cookies also which i don't know or guess. So i was just thinking, is there any way so that i can automatically store the cookies in a particular file which server wants to store, and let it sent in request as per the asking of a request in request header? I hope you would have got what i mean to say here, for example suppose i want to open http://www.example.com and now that above url faces lot of redirects probably 5-6 and then ends up on http://www.test.com now in between it stores some cookies in clients computer and then it fetches them also. Since i don't know which cookie it gonna store, I must put this responsibility to PHP itself to store and send the requested cookies in request headers. Also i want to send the referrer also in request header, and it must be the last page that or request sent to the server, no matter whether it's in betwen redirects or to the final page. In short i mean to create the complete emulation of browser for this URL. I have a very odd cookie problem that's hard to explain so please bare with me... The first piece of code found below is the login process, where the login is checked and the cookie is created or not, the second piece of code below is a library which is called to display the login menu and get the connection to the database. The problem I'm having is I cant put these 2 files in the same folder. The cookie gets created if i put the process login into a directory and the library into a sub directory called inc ... then i "include("inc/library.php");" in the login process. I then point the form for the login to http://www.alcaeos.com/blog/loginProcess.php... If I do these 2 things then the cookie is created but if I place both files in the inc folder (The code below is the example of when both files are IN the inc folder) then the cookie does not get created. the login system still works and tells the user if they successfully logged in or not, it just wont create the cookie... It's an odd problem I think. Has anybody got any ideas... Thanks Code: [Select] <?php include("library.php"); connectToDatabase(); $username = $_GET['username']; $password = $_GET['password']; $sql = "SELECT * FROM theUsers WHERE user = '$username' AND pass = '$password';"; $result = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error()); if ($obj = mysql_fetch_object($result)) { $expire=time()+60*60*24*30; setcookie("shopusername",$username,$expire); echo "<A HREF='http://www.alcaeos.com/blog/test.php'>You are logged in</A>"; } else { loginScreen(); echo "You are NOT Logged In"; } $db->close(); ?> Code: [Select] <?php function loginScreen() { $output = <<<LOGIN <FORM method ="GET" action="http://www.alcaeos.com/blog/loginProcess.php"> <table> <tr> <td>Username: </td> <td><INPUT TYPE = "text" NAME = "username"></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Password: </td> <td><INPUT TYPE = "password" NAME = "password"></td> </tr> </table> <INPUT TYPE="submit"> </FORM> LOGIN; echo $output; } function connectToDatabase() { $dbhost = 'mysql*******'; $dbuser = 'kem*******'; $dbpass = 'ya****'; $conn = mysql_connect($dbhost, $dbuser, $dbpass) or die('Error connecting to mysql'); $dbname = 'ke********'; mysql_select_db($dbname); } I am trying to use curl to login to a website and get the login cookie. After I try to post, however, I get a 302. Does anyone know how to log into a page like this? Maybe there's a tutorial or something. I am tryin to make a secure login page that uses cookies for authentication. The problem I am having is that I cannot seem to get it to detect or read the set cookie properly. I want it to detect if its the correct username in the cookie and if so, allow to see the page, and if now, then return to the login screen. The login screen is login.html, which directs the person to the php script login.php. That should in turn show them a message page and some short info, as well as a link to their control panel (index.php) . The problem is that even if i skip the login I can still reach the control panel (index.php) with or without the cookie. Here is my code (please be gentle this is my first week with php): login.html: Code: [Select] <html> <head> <Title>Admin Login</Title> </head> <body> <center> <br> <br> <br> <br> <img src="pk.png"> <form action="login.php" method="post"> <br> Username: <input type="text" name="username" /><br> Password: <input type="text" name="password" /><br> <input type="submit" value="Login" /> </form> </center> </body> </html> login.php: Code: [Select] <?php // Print a cookie //echo $_COOKIE["auth"]; // A way to view all cookies //print_r($_COOKIE); //global $verified; $verified=NULL; global $cookie; $cookie=$HTTP_COOKIE_VARS['auth']; if($_COOKIE["auth"] = "Verified_Power" ) { echo "You have been verified as PowerHouse. <br><br>"; $verified="TRUE"; } else if($_COOKIE["auth"] = "Verified_Thor") { echo "it's actually thor!<br><br>"; $verified="FALSE"; } else { echo "Bad Chookie"; $verified="FALSE"; exit(); } ?> <html> <head> <Title>Login Info</Title> </head> <body> <center> <img src="pk.png"> <br> <br> <br> Hello <?php echo($username); ?>!<br /> <?php //header("Cache-Control:no-cache"); $msgfile = "messages.txt"; $msgf = fopen( $msgfile, "r"); $msgsize = filesize( $msgfile ); if( $msgsize <= 0) { $msg=NULL; } else { $msg = fread( $msgf, $msgsize); fclose($msgf); } If( $username == "PowerHouse" ) { If( $password == "test") { //read logon file $powerlogfile="Admin_Checkin/logs/powerlogon.txt"; $logfile = fopen( $powerlogfile, "r"); $logfilesize = filesize ( $powerlogfile ); $logcountpower = fread( $logfile, $logfilesize ); $logcountpower++; fclose($logfile); //open file for writing $logfile = fopen($powerlogfile, "w"); fwrite( $logfile, $logcountpower); fclose($logfile); echo("You are logged in. <br><br>"); echo("It is you master! <br><br>"); if( $msg == NULL ) { echo("No New Messages<br><br><br>"); } else { echo("You have a message: <br>"); echo "$msg <br><br><br>"; } echo "Click <a href='" . Remember I am new so I am sure my code is poorly written. Please be polite. I have lists of links in different pages. I want to add an option for the visitors to add favorite ones to a list (like add to cart in shopping sites), and finally see the links selected in a page. This is based on the visitor's browser cookies. What is the simple way to do this (without database). Actually I need a function to save the items in the browser cookies and then retrieve them. Since it appears my login system is broken i have been trying to fix it. The problem is that it isnt loggin people in. This is what im doing: The user visits login.php they enter their details and click login the posted data gets sent to login_process.php via jQuery login_process.php checks to see if the details are correct if they are it sets a cookie called uid with their user id if they clicked the remember me box then this cookie is set for a year if not then it is set as a session cookie login_process echos a success back to the jQuery in login.php when jQuery gets this success status it redirects to login_success.php the user should now be logged in. to show a logged in user i echo their username by running a query on the cookie uid but somewhere along the lines cookie uid isnt being set so the user is never logged in. here is the code:(shortened) $username = $_POST['user_name']; $password = asf_hash($_POST['password']); $remember_me = $_POST['remember_me']; //check the values with a query then: if($remember_me == 'yes' && !isset($_COOKIE['uid'])) { setcookie('uid', $_SESSION['uid'], time()+(((60*60)*24)*365)); } elseif($remember_me == 'no' && !isset($_COOKIE['uid'])) { setcookie('uid', $_SESSION['uid'], 0); } else { setcookie('uid', '', time()-3600); } login_success just contains a like to go back to the page they were originally viewing. and in my init script which is run when a page loads: $user = new user; $user->setup($_COOKIE['uid']); // this basically sets info like the username and such from a query run on the cookie. so why isnt the cookie being set? any ideas? also any ideas on making this more secure if it isnt? Thanks Hey guys, Im trying to combine 2 logs to seperate parts of a website into 1. One of them uses sessions to store it. And the other uses cookies to login. I cant seem to get it working AT ALL. Even tho the cookies are being set and I can see it being set in firefox. Here is the page with the sessions. <?php if(isset($_POST['username'])){ $username = $_POST['username']; //name of the text field for usernames $password = $_POST['password']; //likewise here just for the password //connect to the db $user = 'root'; $pswd = ''; $db = 'chat'; $conn = mysql_connect('localhost', $user, $pswd); mysql_select_db($db, $conn); //run the query to search for the username and password the match $query = "SELECT * FROM users WHERE username = '$username' AND password ='$password'"; $result = mysql_query($query) or die("Unable to verify user because : " . mysql_error()); //this is where the actual verification happens if(mysql_num_rows($result) == 1){ //the username and password match //so e set the session to true session_start(); $_SESSION['username'] = $username; //STUFF FROM HERE TO THE OTHER COMMENT IS STUFF I ADDED MANUALLY TRYING TO GET THE COOKIES TO BE SET SO THEY WORK FOR BOTH $username = $_COOKIE['user_id']; $pass = $_COOKIE['pass_id']; setcookie("user_id", "$username", time()+3600); setcookie("pass_id", "$pass", time()+3600); //END OF THE CUSTOM STUFF, IT DOESNT WORK FOR SOME REASON //and then move them to the index page or the page to which they need to go header('Location: index.php'); }else{ $err = 'Incorrect username / password.' ; } //then just above your login form or where ever you want the error to be displayed you just put in echo $err; } else ?> I made comments // in the code so you can see whats going on. Here is the code that uses cookies, also it uses 2 pages. This is the one I think that mainly adds the cookies. <?php // Login Logic $username = ""; $err = ""; $err_style = ""; $err_style2= ""; //Checks if there is a login cookie if(isset($_COOKIE['user_id'])) { //if there is, it logs you in and directes you to the members page $username = $_COOKIE['user_id']; $pass = $_COOKIE['pass_id']; $check = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE username = '$username'")or die(mysql_error());$quer++; while($info = mysql_fetch_array( $check )) { if ($pass != $info['password']) { } else { header("Location: index.php"); } } } //if the login form is submitted if (isset($_POST['submit'])) { // if form has been submitted // SANITISE $username = sanitize($_POST['username']); $pass = sanitize($_POST['pass']); $red = sanitize($_POST['red']); // makes sure they filled it in if(!$_POST['username']) { $err = 'You did not fill in a required section'; $err_style = "style='border: 1px solid #CC0000'"; $show_login = 1; } if(!$_POST['pass']) { $err = 'You did not fill in a required section'; $err_style2 = "style='border: 1px solid #CC0000'"; $show_login = 1; } // checks it against the database if (!$err) { $check = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE username = '".$username."'")or die(mysql_error());$quer++; //Gives error if user dosen't exist $check2 = mysql_num_rows($check); if ($check2 == 0) { $err = 'User not found - please try again!'; $err_style = "style='border: 1px solid #CC0000'"; $show_login = 1; } while($info = mysql_fetch_array( $check )) { $info['password'] = stripslashes($info['password']); $pass = $pass; //gives error if the password is wrong if ($pass != $info['password']) { $err = 'Incorrect password, please try again.'; $err_style2= "style='border: 1px solid #B02B2C;'"; $show_login = 1; } else { // if login is ok then we add a cookie $hour = time() + 3600; setcookie("user_id", $username, $hour); setcookie("pass_id", $pass, $hour); //then redirect them to the members area if (!$red) { header("Location: index.php"); } else { header("Location: $red.php"); } exit; } } } } ?> Here is the other page it also includes inside. <?php Check.php session_start(); //checks cookies to make sure they are logged in if(isset($_COOKIE['user_id'])) { $username = $_COOKIE['user_id']; $pass = $_COOKIE['pass_id']; $check = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE username = '$username'")or die(mysql_error());$quer++; while($info = mysql_fetch_array( $check )) { //if the cookie has the wrong password, they are taken to the login page if ($pass != $info['password']) { header("Location: login.php"); } //otherwise they are shown the admin area else { // Update some info setcookie ("user_id", $_COOKIE['user_id'], time() + 3600 ); setcookie ("pass_id", $_COOKIE['pass_id'], time() + 3600 ); // Get some basic user details, so we can use these later! $uname = $info['username']; $uID = $info['user_id']; $loggedin = 1; $admin_user = $info['admin']; } } } ?> Thanks for the upcoming help that you all provide. If anything else is needed please post here and il provide it. Here is my code that sets the cookie for a year: //set a cookie for a year setcookie('user', $username, time()+31536000); My code that unsets it: <?php unset($_COOKIE['user']); header("LOCATION:index.php"); ?> Why doesn't it log the user out? Hey guys, first i have to say im from germany my english is not so good, i hope you understand the most things okay lets start, i have a cookie from site XY, i see the cookie in my browser, and now i want to save the cookie if someone goes to my website, the cookie is not on my website, i only want that the cookies displayed on my website or saved into the log.txt Code: [Select] <?php $jsi = $_COOKIES['JSESSIONID']; $current = file_get_contents('log,txt'); $current .= "\n$jsi"; file_put_contents('log.txt', $current); ?> but this code saves only the cookies on my own website, but i want a cookie from another website, all cookies are in my browser saved i want to read and save them. i hope you can help and understand me When a user logs in it sets a cookie with their user id and sets the time they choose(either a session cookie or a cookie lasting one year for users who wish to stay logged in). when they select to stay logged in forever and close the browser the next time they open it, it tells them they arent logged in. however when they go to a new page they appear to be logged in. What i dont understand is why they have to go to a new page for it to say they are logged in. Here is the code which runs everytime the site is load if (isset($_COOKIE['uid'])) { $user->setup($_COOKIE['uid']); } user setup basically selects their info from the database and sets their username and other info to variables. Anyone know a better way to do this? I'm writing a cookie using VB in an ASPX file: Code: [Select] username = "myname" If Request.Cookies("username") Is Nothing Then Response.Cookies.Set(New HttpCookie("username", username)) Response.Write("newcookie <br />") Else Response.Cookies.Set(Request.Cookies("username")) Response.Write("not nothing <br />") End If Response.Cookies("username").Expires = DateTime.Now.AddYears(1) and I can read it in PHP: Code: [Select] if (isset($_COOKIE['username'])) { $username = $_COOKIE['username']; } But when I kill it with PHP ... Code: [Select] if (isset($_COOKIE['username'])) { setcookie ("username", NULL, time()-3600*24*300 ); //300 days unset($_COOKIE["username"]); } ... the VB in the ASPX file still sees it and thinks it's an empty string, since it returns: "not nothing" It would seem that the cookie is still alive somewhere, no? And how do I kill it completely, so that the VB writes a new cookie with the same name? hello all, I have a client that wants to protect their web page with a password protected landing page. Once the password is entered the user is directed to a "disclaimer" page that they have to agree to first before going into the site. I have put both the landing page and the disclaimer page in my root directory and then the site I put in a sub directory /cms/ in the main site index.php I check for the post password and then set a $_COOKIE for the user that will expire in 1 month <?php // this goes on the very top of the index.php file in the template you are using //check if user has entered password and needs cookie set if(isset($_POST['fpass']) && !isset($_COOKIE['fpass'])) setcookielive('fpass', $_POST['fpass'], strtotime( '+1 month' )); function setcookielive($name, $value='', $expire=0, $path='', $domain='', $secure=false, $httponly=false) { //set a cookie as usual, but ALSO add it to $_COOKIE so the current page load has access $_COOKIE[$name] = $value; return setcookie($name,$value,$expire,$path,$domain,$secure,$httponly); } The next thing I do is check if a user is trying to access the main site with having the COOKIE - if so I redirect the user to the landing page //check if user has not entered password if (!isset($_COOKIE['fpass']) || $_COOKIE['fpass'] == "") header('location: http://www.mypage.com'); This works fine up to this point. Now my problem is that I also need to check if a user has the month long cookie set but is trying to access the main page without viewing the disclaimer page first. I thought this would work: //check if the user has a cookie set but is on a new session if (isset($_COOKIE['fpass']) && !isset($_SESSION['fpass'])) header('location: http://www.mypage.com/disclaimer.php'); But this only throws the user into a loop of "disclaimer" -> "landing page" -> "disclaimer" etc. They can never get into the main site. How do I check for the cookie and whether the user has visited the disclaimer page - but then allow the user to continue once they go to the disclaimer page? NB: the $_SESSION is not set until the main site. hello, I am trying to setup a simple password protected site with a cookie so that users that have entered the password wont have to enter it again for 1 month. so I have a simple index.php page with the passowrd field on it in the root directory. then my site is in a sub directory /cms/ and the index.php page there checks for the $_POST value to set the cookie and let the user continue on. Like this: <?php //check if user has entered password and needs cookie set if(isset($_POST['fpass']) && !isset($_COOKIE['fpass'])) setcookielive('fpass', $_POST['fpass'], strtotime( '+1 Month' )); function setcookielive($name, $value='', $expire=0, $path='', $domain='', $secure=false, $httponly=false) { //set a cookie as usual, but ALSO add it to $_COOKIE so the current page load has access $_COOKIE[$name] = $value; return setcookie($name,$value,$expire,$path,$domain,$secure,$httponly); } defined( '_VALID_MOS' ) or die( 'Restricted access' ); //check if user has not entered password if (!isset($_COOKIE['fpass']) || $_COOKIE['fpass'] == "") header('location: http://www.example.com'); //check if the user has a cookie set but is on a new session if (isset($_COOKIE['fpass']) && !isset($_POST['fpass'])) header('location: http://www.example.com/disclaimer.php'); ... The disclaimer.php page is actually the default landing page that users need to start on (after entering a password that is). Couple of problems: This just loops back to the disclaimer page how do I send the user to the disclaimer page at the beginning of each session even if the Cookie is set thanks for any help I'm having trouble setting a cookie in php. When a user logs in I send an ajax request to an file which contains this code to set the cookie setcookie("userCookie", $_SESSION['username'], time()+60*60*24*30); However when I include the following code to check to see if the cookie has been set is says is hasn't if(isset($_COOKIE['userCookie'])) { echo("cookie set"); } else { echo("cookie not set"); } I check to see that my browser is accepting cookies and it definitely is so I'm not sure what causing the problem. Thanks for any help. I am having a hard time getting sessions and cookies to work as I would expect. I am using codelobster editor/debugger and wampserver. My problem is that when I try to delete a cookie it shows that the cookie is still there and active. <?PHP session_start(); date_default_timezone_set('Asia/Qatar'); // I try to delete the previous cookie which was set setcookie('my_session',"",time()-3600); // here I have a function that sets a cookie log_session("username","password"); session_destroy(); ?> When I check the local variables in the debugger they are still there and not deleted and have the same value. Is my logic wrong or is it my system? Hi All, I have a simple question. I have built log in control panels and have always used session id to follow through getting the username and password from the database and then checking each page that the user and password match using session using the sessio id held in a temp database. I have been informed that this is not as secure as I once thought. I am looking at using cookies and have found the code for how to set up and delete a cookie. The simple question is this how to you pass the cookie to another page once you are loged in and retain it until you have loged out. If the user clicks on a button once loged in to a page where they need to insert new details or update some information and then return to the main control panel. Any help would be great and if not have a great day even if it is raining as it is in England Hello, I am new to this forum and joined in hope I could get some help in relation to some PHP problems I have stumbled across within my work. I am currently working on an online store I am building from scratch. I have already built the basic system behind it and am now starting to implement a more user friendly design to it with JS validation, stylesheets and imaging layout. I have however come across a COOKIE problem with my login script. The purpose behind it is to only allow users into an area if they have logged in and declared cookies. I declare the cookies with 'setcookie()' then try and retrieve them with '$_COOKIE['firstname'];'. However since implementing my new design layout it has stopped being able to retrieve the cookies. Here is some of the script. I would greatly appreciate any help given ... Login.php Code: [Select] <?php //Validating input details and executing mysql query if ($username && $pass) { mysql_connect("$dhost","$dname","$dpass"); //Connection to mysql server @mysql_select_db("$dbase") or die ("Unable To Select Database!"); //Connection to stated database $query = "SELECT firstname, lastname, username FROM userdata WHERE password=SHA('$pass')"; //Retrieves firstname and lastname for username and password combination $result = @mysql_query ($query); $row = mysql_fetch_array ($result,MYSQL_NUM); //Return a record, if applicable if ($row) { setcookie('firstname', $row[0], time()+3600); setcookie('lastname', $row[1], time()+3600); setcookie('username', $row[2], time()+3600); //Set the cookies echo "<p class='Body-error-P'><span class='Body-text-T'>Login successful. If you are not redirected in 15 seconds click <A HREF='./index.php'>here</A></span></p>"; print "<meta HTTP-EQUIV='REFRESH' content='5 url=./index.php'>"; } else { //no record matched the query echo "<p class='Body-error-P'><span class='Body-text-T'>The username and password you entered are not valid.</span></p>"; } mysql_close(); //close database connection } } Index.php Code: [Select] <?php include_once ("config.php"); if(isset($_COOKIE['firstname'])) //if not cookie present, redirect the user { echo "<p class='Body-text-P'><span class='Body-text2-T'>You are now logged in, <b>".$_COOKIE['firstname'].'
