HTML - Question Regarding Sql Data And Displaying. Css/xml A Good Idea?
Hi, thank you in advance for reading and offering advice. I hope I'm using the correct forum.
I am returning data from a MySQL database. I want to be able to display this data, without writing out each and every HTML element. I figure if I transform it into XML, I can write something in CSS that formats it in the same way. Does anyone know how good this is, or if I'll simply have an easier time of creating HTML templates for each table that I return? Thank you! Similar Tutorialshello; I only recently discovered iframes, that you could load a webpage into them; I have decided to rebuild my online portfolio whereby when a user clicks a thumbnail the appropriate web app will load into the iframe; however before I go too far down that road I thought maybe someone could mention some pros and cons; one specific question: is there an alternative?? thanks dsdsdsdsd Just stumbled across Frameset and realised how i could use it in my website to achieve modularity & abstraction, stops code duplication. Also prevents random browsers to look at my web code, good design, right? I've got a navigation bar that is the same for all pages so i dont want to replicate my code throughout my pages to achieve the same layout. So is Frameset good or bad? So I designed some websites in Photoshop and I'm still learning it, but recently I saw many people talking about Fireworks and how it is a way better way of producing web design work than Photoshop. They say FW is a more efficient tool, as it was strictly built to create web design. That in terms of web design, it can do everything Photoshop can, but in a more simple way. Is it true? If it is, I think learning Fireworks is a good idea. But..there are soooo many Photoshop tutorials and so much less Fireworks tutorials. And that's my second question: Can I apply Photoshop web design tutorials to Fireworks? I mean, can I watch/ read Photoshop tutorials and figure out how to do the exact same things in Fireworks? Ok I've always been told with the age old myth of "you should never keep your domains and hosting with the same company." It was something about if they change their rules they can lock you in or something weird? Because of this I have always had all of my domains with godaddy and bounced around with hosting & now I have my hosting with hostgator. Whats the real scoop on this? i want to display wave height data from a noaa buoy that is available and updated via a txt file. how can display this data graphically on a web site instead of just displaying the raw data from the text file? Hi i'm retrieving data from a field in database table.the data is stored in corresponding format 1.sdsdsad 2.sadsad 3.asdsaddf .so when i display it in html it is displayed like 1.sdsdsad 2.sadsad 3.asdsaddf i want tat to be displayed in separate lines.is tat possible.can anyone help me out. Thnx in advance Regards mat Hi all, Just wondering if someone could help me with the following. I'm exporting large amounts of MySQL data onto a web page and basically what I would like to do is insert that data into a large textbox. I would have put the data into a table; however, if I have a tabel for say "NAME" I'm soon going to run out of space on the web page as I may return 100 of records for that one column. I thought I could simply have a large display window and this would have scroll bars on the side and at the bottom and I can dump my data into that. Can anyone tell me how I could creat such a table which would span the web pages length? I would also like to control this via CSS and make the colour within the text box grey. Many thanks Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and fairly new to html I've been asked to create a webpage for work that is pretty much an on-line diary for where plant & equipment has been. I have done all the easy stuff, but I don't know if it's possible to display and save input in a cronological order as a list. Is it possible to simply use html code and get this task done? To be more specific, the user can enter the arrival and deparature date of equipment, which i need to be displayed and saved. Any help will be greatly appreciated, and please keep in mind that I have limited knowledge with html code and JS. Regards, Daniel. I have three user input text boxes called; "name", "email" and "phone" and one text field to display that information called; "feedback". When a "Submit" button is clicked, the three text boxes are validated to check that what was typed inside them was OK. I then want to display the Users' name, email and phone number on individual lines in the text field, for example, name on line 1, email on line 2 and phone number on line 3. At the minute when I submit the information only the phone number displays on the first line of the text box. In the text field "feedback"; I know the HTML probably interprets my code as; the name is being replaced by the email and then the email is being replaced by the phone number. Here is the relevant section of my code. function validate(){ if (validateName () && validateEmail() && validateformatNumber()){ var myName=document.survey.visitor.value; document.survey.feedback.value=myName; var myEmail=document.survey.email.value; document.survey.feedback.value=myEmail; var myPhone=document.survey.phone.value; document.survey.feedback.value=myPhone; return true; }else{ return false; }} I think the solution could be something simple but I haven't much of an idea of how to do it. Thanks in advance. Hi all im really new to html. I guess this question is really basic to the expert html ers but just need a bit of help. I want to add some text say i got a
tag and want to write just a sentance such as ..
I am learning html, it uses tags like this <a,b> which can load images etc.
of course a,b isnt a tag, but if i load this basic text in a web browser it would ignore the <a,b> and come up as validation error in the validator. So pretty much is there a way around of displaying <any letters or words> without the browser thinking its some sort of tag? thanks for the help! I've made a lot of progress on my website: Bands 4 Babes but I'm still struggling with getting everything to look the same on all the different browsers. Basically what I'm finding is: Chrome and Safari (PC) - Displays exactly as I want it to Firefox 3.5.2 (PC) - Displays properly except for the Home link in the purple bar is a few PX too far left and the --- above home is a line too high Firefox and Safari on Mac - FF exhibit the same problem as above, but most fonts (sizes and faces) are off on the mac versions. This also throws off alignments of other stuff. IE8 - Two solid lines on top and bottom of page are a few pixels too low which ruins the continuity of the box frame I created. If somebody could take a look at my code and give me some thoughts on what the problem is I would really appreciate it. Thanks. Ok, so I have this homepage with some code on it for weather... Code: Lets say you go to homepage.com for this. Could somebody help me make it so I could go to homepage.com/12345 it would insert 12345 into the zipcode field in that script? Thanks for any help I am looking for a little help or if anybody is interested in doing it for me I have approx $20 in my paypal and I will pass it on to you or a charity of your choice. I am looking for a form to be coded that will play videos in one page. This will need to be a web page that i can store one my desktop as it will not be published to the web. ANY TAKERS ? Hi Everyone, this may be very complicated but I am wanting to create a feature like facebook that allows users that have signed up to my site to be able create/join private groups, if the user is to create one then they will be the admin and be responsible for accepting people into that group if someone requests to join. to make the above better i would also like it if when someone creates a group for it then to go to a status for it to be approved by the website admin (Me ) if i approve it they are on there way or i can reject it with a reason why or be able ask them a question before rejection/approval. i know i have got no code examples or anything to go with this as i am unsure where to start, hopfully someone can point me in the right place to do this but like i said, the best example is facebook groups. Regards, Jamie Im not good at html writing so I thought I would ask. Im looking to generate a little extra income using just myspace for now. I want to create a new myspace centered around adult stories that I write. I would put a chunk of the story up as a blog to entice the reader to want more but to get more the reader would have to deposit $5.00 into my paypal. Basically what im looking for is a code for a form similar to one on an online store or something of the sort in which you enter your name, email address, and so on, along with a way for them to pay the money. Also I was wondering if there was a way that once the money is deposited the story would be sent to them via email automatically so that I could generate revenue when Im not on the computer. So if you could help me set this idea up I would greatly appreciate it. please email me at abrusnahan@yahoo.com if you can help me of if you have ideas for improvement. For a while now I have been trying to figure out how publish RSS feeds for a website I am working on, I am somewhat a novice and recently stumbled across this code: http://snippets.dzone.com/posts/show/4083. I pretty much just pasted that code at random within my website. Not surprisingly it didn't work, in fact my page didn't even load... Can anyone advise me on how to better apply this code or at least recommend another way to publish RSS feeds. Thanks in advance. Hey everyone. I'm just looking for general opinions or ideas on ways to make this website that I have in mind. I want to create a website similar to Craigslist where people can post things to sell and look for things to buy. And if I find something I like, I can send a message to the seller, but still maintain privacy in the sense that I cannot see the email address the message is being sent to and visa versa. What's a basic way to accomplish creating a site like this? Ideas are much appreciated! Thanks! Hi everyone! I am redesigning my website. It is an illustration website, and it needs to have a portfolio. I need some help with the gallery navigation. I want people to use the arrow keys to move between images, and I want the image to be in the circle. How should I do this? I don't want to use frames, and I also don't want to make an entire new page for each image. Any tips? Thank you! http://imageupload.org/?d=4DA74E611 I have already posted rollover threads, and my problem was solved. However, as I was building my online website, I realised that an end-user has to wait for music files to buffer and load before the sound actually plays. Basically, my rollover is this: Code:

- This plays music and an animation when a mouse is hovered over the original picture. My problem: when the mouse is hovered over the image, it takes about 30 seconds for the music to start playing as it is loading. To solve this, I want a line of text to appear when the mouse hovers over the image which lasts about 30 seconds, saying: "Please wait as music buffers." I have a line of code in mind: [code]
text
[code] I also have all of the necessary coding to activate this code at the top of my page. But my question is: how do I put the timed writing, into the mouseover code? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
