PHP - Php Include With Varying Number Of Variables
Hey everyone,
I'm new to PHP so excuse me if this is an obvious question: I've got a horizontal scrolling image gallery as an include, as it will be used in dozens of pages. Each page that includes the image gallery will be using different pictures and in different numbers (anywhere from 1 - 15 images). In each page that includes the image gallery, I've turned each image to be used into a variable.. $image 1 = "images/image1.jpg"; $image 2 = "images/image2.jpg"; ... $image 7 = "images/image7.jpg"; etc. Now, I imagine I need to write a loop in the include that will account for as many pictures as there are variables in each page, without adding links for variables that aren't in the page in question. Something like (simplified): Defined on page: $image 1 = "images/image1.jpg"; $image 2 = "images/image2.jpg"; $image 3 = "images/image3.jpg"; $image 4 = "images/image4.jpg"; Loop in photo gallery include: <?php for($i = 1; $i <=15; $i++) { $imagei = ("$" ."image".$i); if (defined($imagei)) { echo '<li><a href="' .$imagei.'">'; echo '<img src=" '.$imagei.'" >'; echo '</a></li>'; } } ?> I know this doesn't work because $imagei isn't referring to the defined variables on the external page, but I'm not sure exactly where to go from here. As in, $imagei in the first execution of the loop is equal to "$image1", but how do I link that to the $image1 variable defined in the page (as "image/image1.jpg") to display the image? Does that make sense? Thanks! Similar TutorialsI'm getting the dreaded " Invalid parameter number: number of bound variables does not match number of tokens" error and I've looked at this for days. Here is what my table looks like:
| id | int(4) | NO | PRI | NULL | auto_increment | | user_id | int(4) | NO | | NULL | | | recipient | varchar(30) | NO | | NULL | | | subject | varchar(25) | YES | | NULL | | | cc_email | varchar(30) | YES | | NULL | | | reply | varchar(20) | YES | | NULL | | | location | varchar(50) | YES | | NULL | | | stationery | varchar(40) | YES | | NULL | | | ink_color | varchar(12) | YES | | NULL | | | fontchosen | varchar(30) | YES | | NULL | | | message | varchar(500) | NO | | NULL | | | attachment | varchar(40) | YES | | NULL | | | messageDate | datetime | YES | | NULL |Here are my params: $params = array( ':user_id' => $userid, ':recipient' => $this->message_vars['recipient'], ':subject' => $this->message_vars['subject'], ':cc_email' => $this->message_vars['cc_email'], ':reply' => $this->message_vars['reply'], ':location' => $this->message_vars['location'], ':stationery' => $this->message_vars['stationery'], ':ink_color' => $this->message_vars['ink_color'], ':fontchosen' => $this->message_vars['fontchosen'], ':message' => $messageInput, ':attachment' => $this->message_vars['attachment'], ':messageDate' => $date );Here is my sql: $sql = "INSERT INTO messages (user_id,recipient, subject, cc_email, reply, location,stationery, ink_color, fontchosen, message,attachment) VALUES( $userid, :recipient, :subject, :cc_email, :reply, :location, :stationery, :ink_color, :fontchosen, $messageInput, :attachment, $date);"; And lastly, here is how I am calling it: $dbh = parent::$dbh; $dbh->setAttribute(PDO::ATTR_ERRMODE, PDO::ERRMODE_WARNING); if (empty($dbh)) return false; $stmt = $dbh->prepare($sql); $stmt->execute($params) or die(print_r($stmt->errorInfo(), true)); if (!$stmt) { print_r($dbh->errorInfo()); }I know my userid is valid and and the date is set above (I've echo'd these out to make sure). Since the id is auto_increment, I do not put that in my sql (though I've tried that too), nor in my params (tried that too). What am I missing? I feel certain it is something small, but I have spent days checking commas, semi-colons and spelling. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong? Hello,
I have problem durring binding update query. I can't find what is causing problem.
public function Update(Entry $e) { try { $query = "update entry set string = $e->string,delimiter=$e->delimiter where entryid= $e->id"; $stmt = $this->db->mysqli->prepare($query); $stmt->bind_param('ssi',$e->string,$e->delimiter,$e->id); $stmt->close(); } catch(Exception $ex) { print 'Error: ' .$ex->getMessage(); } }When I run function update I'm getting next error:Warning: mysqli_stmt::bind_param(): Number of variables doesn't match number of parameters in prepared statement Can you help me to solve this problem ? Edited by danchi, 17 October 2014 - 10:25 AM. What i'm trying to do is have 20 HTML (href) links and a PHP include under the links. What I want is when a link is clicked the PHP include changes to a different file. Im sorry if its not very clear but i'm pretty new to PHP so don't know if its possible... Please can someone help I have this code: Code: [Select] <?php $item_name = urlencode('product name'); $payment_amount = urlencode('20.00'); $payer_email = urlencode('me@email.com'); $getvars = "?item_name=$item_name&payment_amount=$payment_amount&payer_email=$payer_email"; include "http://www.mysite.com/ipn.php$getvars"; ?> It only seems to be passing $item_name, the other 2 variables come up as being set, but are empty. Before, if I wanted to send a welcome letter when a user registers i'd do this. $body = "<inserted html code>"; mail('email@email.com', 'Subject', $body, $headers); Now that I am advancing in PHP, I was trying a different method, because when I did the above method, I would have to take all the HTML out of the variable to change something, like an image link, etc... I have tried doing another method, where I can actually leave all the HTML code in a separate file, so that I can easily edit it, and tried 3 things... This one works, but it doesn't pass variables: $body = file_get_contents("emailTemplate.inc.php"); mail('email@email.com', 'Subject', $body, $headers); When I do this one, the page actually just shows on the current page (naturally): $body = include("emailTemplate.inc.php"); mail('email@email.com', 'Subject', $body, $headers); Of course, this has the same effect as the include function: $body = require("emailTemplate.inc.php"); mail('email@email.com', 'Subject', $body, $headers); So my question is, how do I send a formatted HTML email, and pass variables to it, so I can personalize it by the persons name, etc, without adding the HTML to a variable, and so that I can easily update the page whenever I want, and without taking it out of the variable, and sticking back in the edited code? Any help would be appreciated! I would also like to say that I am using this code for the $headers variable too: $headers = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . "\r\n"; $headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' . "\r\n"; $headers .= 'From: from@email.com <email@email.com>' . "\r\n"; Thank you in advanced! I am trying to pass a variable from inside of a function in a file that is included eg include.php Code: [Select] <? function noms(){ $foobar = "apples"; } ?> main.php Code: [Select] <? include("include.php"); noms(); echo "these ". $foobar. " are most delicious... OM NOM NOM"; ?> I am essentially using a include file for a mysql connection and based on the connection outcome i am either setting a value to true or false. It prints "Connected succesfully" and what not just fine, but, after that it wont pass on the variables data. I know its the function because, it passes the data if i put the variable before the function... i just dont get it.. any help would be great. Thanks. Ansel My code keeps giving me and error on 22 saying: Warning: mysqli_stmt_bind_param() [function.mysqli-stmt-bind-param]: Number of variables doesn't match number of parameters in prepared statement in E:\xampp\htdocs\m9\findRecords2.php on line 22 Code: [Select] <html> <head> <title>Display Records</title> </head> <body> <?php $conn = new mysqli("localhost", "proxy_user", "my*password", "m9"); if (mysqli_connect_errno()){ echo 'Cannot connect to database: ' . mysqli_connect_error($conn); } else{ //read keyword from user if(!empty($_POST["keyword"])){ $keyword = $_POST["keyword"]; // create prepared statement if ($query = mysqli_prepare($conn, "SELECT FirstName, LastName, Age, Hometown, Job FROM people WHERE age <='" . $keyword ."' I have succeeded in getting the look I want but in my query I use a fixed applicantid (in this case an id of 4). What I want to be able to do is to have the id cary according to the url. In other words, when someone comes from one web page to this one and the url is of the format .../pdf_production.php?applicantid=42. I'm not sure I've explained that very well but I hope someone can help - I think this is the last thing I need to sort out. Many thanks in advance. The code I have so far is: <?php require_once('../Connections/process.php'); ?> <?php require_once('../tcpdf/config/lang/eng.php'); require_once('../tcpdf/tcpdf.php'); // get data from users table mysql_select_db($database_process, $process); $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM applicant WHERE applicantid = '4'"); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $appid = $row['applicantid']; $idcode = $row['idcode']; $type = $row['type']; $company = $row['company']; $email = $row['email']; } // create new PDF document $pdf = new TCPDF(PDF_PAGE_ORIENTATION, PDF_UNIT, PDF_PAGE_FORMAT, true, 'UTF-8', false); $pdf->SetPrintHeader(false); $pdf->SetPrintFooter(false); // set default monospaced font $pdf->SetDefaultMonospacedFont(PDF_FONT_MONOSPACED); //set margins $pdf->SetMargins(PDF_MARGIN_LEFT, PDF_MARGIN_TOP, PDF_MARGIN_RIGHT); //set auto page breaks $pdf->SetAutoPageBreak(TRUE, PDF_MARGIN_BOTTOM); //set image scale factor $pdf->setImageScale(PDF_IMAGE_SCALE_RATIO); //set some language-dependent strings $pdf->setLanguageArray($l); // --------------------------------------------------------- // set font $pdf->SetFont('dejavusans', '', 10); // add a page $pdf->AddPage(); // create some HTML content $txt = <<<EOD Below are the details I require Company type: $type Company Name: $company Company email: $email EOD; // output the HTML content // $pdf->writeHTML($htmlcontent, true, 0, true, 0); $pdf->Write(0, $txt, '', 0, 'L', true, 0, false, false, 0); // $pdf->writeHTML($inlinecss, true, 0, true, 0); // reset pointer to the last page // $pdf->lastPage(); //Close and output PDF document $pdf->Output('example_006.pdf', 'I'); //============================================================+ // END OF FILE //============================================================+ ?> So I'm trying to basically trying to make an "advanced search" function in PHP/mysql that will allow users to search by a number of different options like search by zipcode, username, gender, etc. Now my question is how do I vary my mysql query so that it searches for all these things based on whatever the user inputs? For example, the user might need to search zipcode and username but not gender, but in another case, might need to search username and gender, but not zipcode. Obviously I could just do some if/else statements, but that would be increasingly more difficult as there are more fields. What can I do? I need to display a number(the number is retrieved from the db) in the form input field such that only the last 4 digits is visbile, the remaining can be masked as * or X or whatever is applicable. I know the last 4 can be obtained as follows: Code: [Select] $number=substr($number,-4,4); But when i hit the submit button the form validates the input field and checks if the number is a valid number of a specific format. Therefore when I click on the submit button then I should still be able to unmask the masked numbers or do something similar that would help me validate the whole number. Code: [Select] <input type="text" name="no" value="<?php if(!empty($number)){ echo $number;} ?>"> Hey I have a string that looks like the following: Quote top-php-tutorials-2.html I have a script that cycles through each page. The 2 in the quote above is the page number. How can I extract the number between the - and the .html and replace it with another number? I've tried Code: [Select] substr($engine->selectedcaturl, 0,-6).$v.".html"But then I realised this only works for numbers that are 1 digit long Any input would be appreciated CanI put one INCLUDE statement INSIDE of another INCLUDE statement? Hi Guys.. Merry Christmas Im kinda new to this fantastic world of PHP and i have a little problem i hope you can help me with. Im trying to build a website where I use include() to genereate my content. On my index.php i have a menu which includes content in a content div from external .php pages, my structure kinda goes like this.. (simplified) site/ index.php content/ fronpage.php products.php contact.php The HTML looks like this. <div id="menu"> <ul> <li><a href="index.php?page=frontpage">frontpage</a></li> <li><a href="index.php?page=products">frontpage</a></li> <li><a href="index.php?page=contact">frontpage</a></li> </ul> </div <div id="main"> <?php include('/content/'.$_GET['page'].'.php'); ?> </div> This all works very fine, but my problem is, can I have a include inside an already included page? I would like to have a menu on my products.php site, but that page is already included from above, and i would like the menu on the products.php site to stay as the content from the nested include changes with input from the /products folder. my idea was something like this. site/ index.php content/ frontpage.php products.php contact.php products/ product1.php product2.php the HTML on the index.php is the same as above and then i would add the include() on the products.php page, so its kinda the same thing, but one inside the other. HTML inside the products.php folder <div id="sub_menu"> <ul> <li><a href="#">frontpage</a></li> <li><a href="#">frontpage</a></li> <li><a href="#">frontpage</a></li> </ul> </div <div id="sub_main"> <?php include('/content/products'.$_GET['#'].'.php'); ?> </div> I dont know how to link to the new files so they will be included while the first include still stays on the page. Any of you know how and if this can be done? Or maybe at better way to do it? Hope this made sense, my first PHP question Thanks Hi Still a new comer when it comes to PHP. I have a situation where I want to use an include within an include and I am having trouble with my file paths. My main header include, includes everything for each page of my site, beyond the opening of the body to incorporate my navigation etc conditionally loading in css, and loading in titles and meta data etc depending on the page in question. This header needs to reference another include called the-pod.php which is required for every page, the only trouble is I want to use / to reference the root of the server and this is breaking my code. I can't use ../../ etc as its a different path depending on where the master file is located. So my question is how do I get around this? Can the root of the server or path to the root be stored in a variable? and if so how would I write this. Any tips / advice will be greatly appreciated. does anyone know how to decode this XML variable value into string values? I also need to know the oposite way: creating variable values into xml. I've tried several code examples but they did filter the requested data. But when I test it on my web server, I can view the markup and whatnot. Does anyone know why this is? Hi. I have some code which needs to return a single variable from the function and stored as a variable within this page, so it can be echoed later on in the page. I couldn't get it to return as a variable, so i used "return compact();" to return the variable and "extract (myFunction());" to extract it to variables. However, when I turned on php's display errors and error reporting function, I got an error message saying "Warning: extract() [function.extract]: First argument should be an array in /my/web/site/index.php on line 6" (which is where my extract function is). This works fine with passing more than one variables through, is there another way pass one variable from a function to be stored as a variable on the page which called the function? Here is the function: Code: [Select] <?php //This is a list of numeric error codes against their text. this will return the error code as the variable $issue function checkLoginIssue() { //If there is an error code if (isset($_GET["issue"])) { //cycle through the list until the code is reached, return the text and break the switch switch ($_GET["issue"]) { case "1": $issue = '<p class="warning">Please log in to view this page</p>'; break; case "2": $issue = '<p class="warning">Wrong Username or Password</p>'; break; case "3": $issue = '<p class="warning">No user found with those details</p>'; break; } //return the variable in an array with a single value return compact('issue'); } } ?> And here is the code which calls the function: Code: [Select] <?php extract(checkLoginIssue()); ?> Hello, I created a script at my server, but would like to upload files to my other server. The website runs on server 1 and the upload form on server 2. I get the error: Quote URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in Is there another way to do it? Or should I change the php.ini and allow this (why isn't it allowed by default? What are the risks?). iFrames aren't what I need here. Thanks, NLCJ I am fairly new to PHP. I tried searching for answers on Google and in this forum, but I found no solutions. Problem I used PHP include as a way of navigating through my website. I did this so if I changed the design of the website, I don't have to edit each page. The function is similar to iframes. Yesterday I developed a tip calculator (calculates how much tip you need to give to the waiter or waitress based on your bill). However I've noticed after I press "submit", it sends the visitor to a page that shows only the results. I want to show the results within my website design. Screen shots: I input the data. Notice the gray background and the navigation bar. After I press "Submit Order", it shows the results but the results aren't within my website's design. (Notice the white background). Question: How can I incorporate the results from the tip calculator in my design after pressing the "Submit Order" button? Here is the code on the main page of my website (HTML/CSS with PHP) P.S For links in the navigation section, I used : ?id=name Code: [Select] <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>MV Book</title> <link href="style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" /> </head> <body> <div id="wrapper"> <div id="wrapper2"> <div id="header"></div> <!-- End of Header --> <div id="navi"> <ul> <li><a href="/">Home</a></li> <li><a href="?id=tip">Tip calculator</a></li> <li><a href="?id=orderform">Tip calculator</a></li> </ul> </div> <!-- End of Navi --> <div id="content"> <?php $id = $_GET['id'] ; switch($id) { default: include('cutenews/show_news.php'); break; case "orderform": include('orderform.html'); break; case "tip": include('tip.php'); } ?> </div> <!-- End of Content --> </div> <!-- End of Wrapper 2 --> </div> <!-- End of Wrapper --> </body> </html> And this is the code that is on the page where I input the code: Code: [Select] <form action="processtip.php" method="POST"> <table border="0"> <tr> <td>Bill Amount</td> <td align="center"><input type="text" name="billamount" size="10" maxlength="10" id="billamount"></td> </tr> <td>Tip Percent (%)</td> <td align="center"><input type="text" name="tippercent" size="10" maxlength="10" id="tippercent"></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Number Of People (Split)</td> <td align="center"><input type="text" name="people" size="10" maxlength="10" id="people" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" align="center"><input type="submit" value="Submit Order"></td> </tr> </table> </form> This is the PHP Code that process the input data and displays the results (processtip.php) : Code: [Select] <?PHP $billamount = $_POST['billamount']; $tipnumber = $_POST['tipnumber']; $people = $_POST['people']; ?> <html> <head> <title>Emaj's Tip Calculator</title> </head> <body> <h1>Emaj's Tip Calculator</h1> <h2>Thanks for using my Online Tip Calculator</h2> <?php if ($billamount < 0) { echo "<p> You can't have a negative number.
